Here Are Barack Obama’s Favorite Things Of 2018



Former President Barack Obama continued his tradition of sharing the year-end list of his favorite things on Facebook by posting his favorite books, music, and movies for 2018.

His number one pick is a book his wife, Michelle, authored. “Becoming by Michelle Obama (obviously my favorite!),” he wrote.

Obama started his 2018 list with books that have appeared in prior years’ lists, including An American Marriage by Tayari Jones, Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Educated by Tara Westover, Factfulness by Hans Rosling, Futureface: A Family Mystery, an Epic Quest, and the Secret to Belonging by Alex Wagner and A Grain of Wheat by Ngugi wa Thiong’o.

His list of favorite books from 2018 included Washington Black by Esi Edugyan, Asymmetry by Lisa Halliday, Feel Free by Zadie Smith, Florida by Lauren Groff, Frederick Douglass: Prophet of Freedom by David W. Blight, Immigrant, Montana by Amitava Kumar, and The Largesse of the Sea Maiden by Denis Johnson.

Obama’s favorite movies of 2018 were (in alphabetical order):

Annihilation, Black Panther, BlacKkKlansman, Blindspotting, Burning
The Death of Stalin, Eighth Grade, If Beale Street Could Talk,
Leave No Trace, Minding the Gap, The Rider, Roma
Shoplifters, Support the Girls, and Won’t You Be My Neighbor.

The former president honored the recently deceased singer Nancy Wilson in his list of music favorites.

“And in honor of one of the great jazz singers of all time, who died this year, a classic album: The Great American Songbook by Nancy Wilson.”

Other music favorites included Need a Little Time by Courtney Barnett, I Like It by Cardi B (feat. Bad Bunny and J Balvin), Kevin’s Heart by J. Cole, King For A Day by Anderson East, Love Lies by Khalid & Normani, and Make Me Feel by Janelle Monáe.
