He Lies in Such an Earnest Way: Watch as Anderson Cooper Lights Into Mike Pence
Mike Pence and Donald Trump were always an odd pairing. Pence was tied to Trump in an attempt to shore up support among Evangelical Republicans. And the partnership ended in January with supporters of the former president yelling for Pence to be hanged.
The former vice president knows that if he is going to have a political future, however, MAGA support will be essential. So this week he went on Sean Hannity’s show and defended the same insurrectionists who wanted to go after him. During his Tuesday night show, Anderson Cooper blasted Pence for his gaslighting attempt.
After playing a clip from the Hannity interview, Cooper talked about the fact that the former vice president was in danger that day. “Mr. Pence, don’t know if he has forgotten that, because he had to be evacuated from the Senate chamber… because his life was in danger.”
The CNN host continued, “He lies in such an earnest way, doesn’t he? Hmm. Steely eyes lies. Pence’s comments are just the latest in a dangerous whitewashed campaign by Republicans who seem to be moving the party further and further from reality.”
