He Doesn’t Understand Societal Responsilbility: Anthony Fauci Slams Ron DeSantis

While he continues to deny that he has aspirations of becoming president, Ron DeSantis sure seems like a politician trying to raise his profile. And raising your profile in the modern day GOP means going all the way in on the culture war.

Part of DeSantis’ sabre rattling is constantly ripping Dr. Anthony Fauci. Considering that Florida is seeing its worst death rate since the pandemic began, Fauci seems to be willing. The doctor explained why DeSantis is wrong about vaccines during a recent interview with CNN.

“When you’re dealing with an outbreak of an infectious disease,” Fauci began, “it isn’t only about you. There’s a societal responsibility that we all have. If [DeSantis] feels that vaccines are not important for people, that they’re just important for some people, that’s completely incorrect.”

The immunologist continued, “When you have a virus that’s circulating in the community and you are not vaccinated, you are part of the problem. Because you’re allowing yourself to be a vehicle for the virus to be spreading to someone else. So it isn’t as if it stops with you.”

Fauci isn’t likely to be taking any advice from Fauci, regardless of the sound logic. The Florida governor has essentially let the disease run rampant in his state and seemingly thinks that it something his voters want.
