The team behind the Kamala Harris and Tim Walz campaign mocked Donald Trump recently after it was revealed that the Republican campaign wants to change the debate parameters.
Donald Trump was so eager to debate Joe Biden this summer that he agreed to several conditions, including one that muted his microphone when he wasn't speaking. This was due to Trump's behavior in the 2020 debate where he repeatedly interrupted Biden and spoke loudly when his opponent tried to speak.
Kamala Harris, a former prosecutor, isn't worried about Trump's microphone being on when she is talking. According to Priscilla Lopez from CNN, the Democrats want Trump's microphone on during the debate, imagining that the former President could hurt himself with multiple outbursts.
The Harris/Walz team went as far as to put out statements mocking Trump. Brian Fallon, the senior adviser for communication, out out a statement which read in part, "Our understanding is that Trump’s handlers prefer the muted microphone because they don’t think their candidate can act presidential for 90 minutes on his own."
Fallon even put a note in his statement which was clearly aimed at unsettling Trump and baiting him into action:
"We suspect Trump’s team has not even told their boss about this dispute because it would be too embarrassing to admit they don’t think he can handle himself against Vice President Harris without the benefit of a mute button."
