Back in the early 2000’s, Rudy Giuliani was often called America’s mayor. But the next 20 years have been exceedingly difficult for the once prominent Republican. The now lawyer can barely go a couple of weeks without humiliating himself. Many attribute Giuliani’s troubles to drinking too much alcohol. During a recent interview with NBC’s Melissa Russo, he was asked if he has an issue with booze. According to the former New York City mayor, he only drinks on occasion.
The reporter explained, “At age 77, Giuliani says he’s as sharp as ever. And he denies claims and published reports and from colleagues that a drinking problem is to blame for the change people perceive in him.”
She then asked the former mayor, “Were you drunk during those interviews when they said you were?”
“Absolutely not,” he replied. “I don’t think i’ve ever done an interview drunk. I have sometimes — I mean, I drink normally. I like scotch. I drink scotch.”
Russo countered, “So you do not believe you have a drinking problem?” The Trump lawyer responded, “I don’t believe it — I know I’m not, I mean, I — no, I’m not an alcoholic. I’m a functioning — I’m probably — I probably function more effectively than 90% of the population.”
