Hannity: Sondland’s Testimony Was Great For Trump

Today, Gordon Sondland became the first witness to congress who had spoken directly to Donald Trump about the Ukraine. Democrats claimed victory with the ambassador connecting Trump and Mike Pompeo to a quid pro quo.

This afternoon, Trump said that Sondland’s testimony actually cleared him of any wrongdoing and Conservative media has gotten behind this statement. During his radio show this afternoon, Fox News host Sean Hannity said that the ambassador’s testimony was enough to exonerate Trump.

The conservative pundit opened his Wednesday radio show by saying, “IT IS OVER! IT IS DONE! THIS IS THE END OF THIS!”

Hannity continued his rant, “Let the Democrats impeach all they want. None of the hearsay, none of the interpretations matter. And Sondland blew it out of the water, because he is now the greatest fact witness for the President of the United States, because he’s the only one that actually talked to him.”

There were, of course, Republicans who felt that Sondland’s testimony wasn’t good for Trump. Former Virginia congresswoman Barbara Comstock tweeted, “Sondland testifying that this was a Donald Trump and Rudy (Giuliani) operation.” She later old ABC that the testimony was “devastating.”

A more surprising Republican reaction was that of former Clinton prosecutor Ken Starr. Appearing on Fox News, Starr claimed, “There will be articles of impeachment, it was just confirmed today. Substantively, what we heard from [Intelligence Committee Chair Rep. Adam Schiff] just now is: It’s over. We now know — this is his position — we now know that the president, in fact, committed the crime of bribery.”
