Greta Thunberg: I Wouldn’t Have Wasted My Time Meeting With Trump

Greta Thunberg has certainly made her mark on the world since beginning her climate change demonstration in August of 2018. Her activism has led to millions taking part in rallies around the country. 2019 culminated with the Swede being named Time Magazines Person of the Year.

One person who hasn’t taken heed of Thunberg’s message is Donald Trump. When asked in a recent interview if she would consider meeting with the United States President, the young activist said that a sit down with Trump would be a waste of her time.

The activist was asked about meeting with the President by the BBC’s David Attenborough. Attenborough asked what she might have said to Trump if the two were to meet up at the United Nations.

Thunberg replied, “Honestly, I don’t think I would have said anything because obviously he’s not listening to scientists and experts, so why would he listen to me? So I probably wouldn’t have said anything, I wouldn’t have wasted my time.”

The President has mocked the young climate activist on many occasions. When she was named Person of the Year, a clearly jealous Trump tweeted, “So ridiculous. Greta must work on her Anger Management problem, then go to a good old fashioned movie with a friend! Chill Greta, Chill!”

Thunberg tends to take these sorts on insults in stride. She told Attenborough, “Those attacks are just funny because they obviously don’t mean anything,…I guess of course it means something. They are terrified of young people bringing change which they don’t want, but that is just proof that we are actually doing something and that they see us as some kind of threat.”
