Graham: Pray For the Kurds Who Were Shamelessly Abandoned by Trump

Over the weekend, Donald Trump made the decision to withdraw aids from Kurds fighting in Northern Syria. This opened the door for Turkish forces to move in. And now, 3 days after Trump’s call, Turkish forces have done just that.

This situation, created entirely by the Trump administration, has enraged lawmakers on both sides of the aisle. This morning, Lindsey Graham, normally a fierce Trump surrogate, blasted the President’s decision and urged him to change his mind.
Graham, who has been criticizing the decision for days, aired his grievances over Twitter. The South Carolina senator wrote, “If media reports are accurate and Turkey has entered northern Syria — a disaster is in the making. Pray for our Kurdish allies who have been shamelessly abandoned by the Trump Administration. This move ensures the reemergence of ISIS.”

The senator also promised that he will lead the senate in striking back at Turkish leader Tayyip Erdogan. He continued, “Will lead effort in Congress to make Erdogan pay a heavy price. I urge President Trump to change course while there is still time by going back to the safe zone concept that was working.”

Graham wasn’t the only Republican lawmaker to make unusually harsh comments about Donald Trump. Wyoming Congresswoman Liz Cheney tweeted this morning, “News from Syria is sickening. Turkish troops preparing to invade Syria from the north, Russian-backed forces from the south, ISIS fighters attacking Raqqa. Impossible to understand why Donald Trump is leaving America’s allies to be slaughtered and enabling the return of ISIS.”
