GOP Senators Vow Not to Work With Democrats Over Trump Conviction

Donald Trump was convicted on 34 counts in a New York courtroom on Thursday and Republican lawmakers just don't know how to react. if they could, they would do everything to reverse the verdict, but they don't have that kind of power.

Instead, the weakest GOP Senators in the country want to make sure Donald Trump sees them backing him. And today, a group of 8 Conservative Senators, led by Mike Lee and JD Vance are threatening to stop doing their jobs because of the court case.

The group of 8 wrote in a letter, "The White House has made a mockery of the rule of law and fundamentally altered our politics in un-American ways. As a Senate Republican conference, we are unwilling to aid and abet this White House in its project to tear this country apart."

The missive continued:

"We will not 1) allow any increase to non-security related funding for this administration, or any appropriations bill which funds partisan lawfare; 2) vote to confirm this administration's political and judicial appointees; and 3) allow expedited consideration and passage of Democrat legislation or authorities that are not directly relevant to the safety of the American people."

The competition for who could grovel to Trump in the most extreme fashion has been ongoing for years, but this group of 8 have raised the bar to a pathetic degree.
