GOP Sen. Cornyn Says Working With Trump is Like Being in Bad Marriage
Donald Trump knows something about being in a bad marriage. He is now in his third marriage after divorcing 1st wife Ivana Trump and 2nd wife Marla Maples. Even the 3rd relationship has been rocky as Trump has openly cheated on First Lady Melania Trump with porn star Stormy Daniels.
So it might make some sense for someone trying to describe their relationship with Donald Trump like being married to him. Texas senator John Cornyn recently did just that likening working with Trump to being in a failed marriage.
The Texas lawmaker made his comments to the Fort Worth Star Telegram. He told reporters, “Maybe like a lot of women who get married and think they’re going to change their spouse, and that doesn’t usually work out very well. I think what we found is that we’re not going to change President Trump. He is who he is. You either love him or hate him, and there’s not much in between.”
With two weeks left Cornyn says he was an abused wife who only now realizes he couldn’t change Trump. https://t.co/pQrhrnrZ0n

The senator, who is running against Democrat MJ Hegar, also said, “But when I have had differences of opinion, which I have, (I) do that privately. I have found that has allowed me to be much more effective, I believe, than to satisfy those who say I ought to call him out or get into a public fight with him.”
While he did not speak out anywhere near as strongly, Cornyn is the 2nd Republican senator to talk this week about difficulties with Trump. Nebraska senator was much more forceful earlier this week.
