GOP Rep Tony Gonzales Predicts Republicans Will Lose House This Fall

This week, Tony Gonzalez, a Congressman from Texas, said that he expects the party to lose the House or Representatives if things keep going the same way.

There will be a major election this fall for the Presidency, but the House and Senate are also up for grabs. Even if Kamala Harris can capture the White House, it is incumbent upon the Demcoratic party to also win the other two bodies if they hope to achieve any legislative goals.

Tony Gonzales, a moderate Rep. from the state of Texas doesn't feel good about his party's chances. The Republican told Punchbowl News:

"What is frustrating me is, I firmly believe that House Republicans are going to lose the majority. And we're going to lose it because of ourselves. We’re getting outraised. We’re getting outspent.“[Democratic messaging] is at a different level than where we’re at."

The Republican continued by saying people:

"Just want their lives to be better. They want to feel safe in their communities. They want their kids to feel safe in school. They want more money in their pockets. These are real issues. … Yet the House Republicans continue to get in their own way, and I worry if we stay in this spot, we’re gonna be in the minority."

Gonzales also doesn't seem to be excited for the future, saying Republicans will"debate really, kind of failed policies before they even get going."
