GOP Pollster Luntz: Trump Could Single-Handedly Cost GOP House in 2022
For many years, Frank Luntz has been one of the most reliable pollsters in the country. And the GOP pollster has been very honest about Donald Trump and his impact on the Republican party.
This honesty has certainly drawn the ire of Conservative pundits. Tucker Carlson, for one, has dedicated multiple segments to attacking Luntz and making up wild rumors about him. Undeterred, though, the pollster has continued to discuss how negative Trump’s presence is for the GOP.
During a recent appearance on the New York Times’ Sway podcast, Luntz told Kara Swisher, “More than two-thirds of Republicans believe that the election was stolen.” Swisher replied, “So it’s working. This ‘Big Lie’ thing is working.”
The pollster continued, “It is working. … What Donald Trump is saying is actually telling people it’s not worth it to vote. Donald Trump single-handedly may cause people not to vote. And he may be the greatest tool in the Democrats’ arsenal to keep control of the House and Senate in 2022.”
Luntz later explained, “If Donald Trump runs for president as a Republican, he’s the odds-on favorite to win the nomination. He could never win a general election, but I can’t imagine losing a Republican primary. … I would bet on him to be the nominee and I would bet on him losing to whatever Democratic nominee there was.”
