Republican leaders are panicked as their grip on Capitol Hill is threatened because Dems are outspending them on the battle for the House, according to a Politico report.
“They are dumping in cash by the truckload,”, said Brian Walsh, president of the pro-Trump America First Action super PAC, who adds, “From Democrat candidates to outside groups, we’ve never seen anything like this before.”
Dems have reserved more than $109 million for TV ads versus the GOP’s $60 million since the end of July, and the gap is likely to grow due to former NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg making good on his pledge to spend nearly $80 million so that Dems can control the House.
While President Trump predicts the midterms could see a “Red Wave” based on the size of his campaign rallies, political analysts say a “Blue Wave” is imminent because angry and energized voters will vote for Democrats.
Corry Bliss, the House GOP Super PAC’s executive director, said he is worried about a “Green Wave” of spending against the GOP, according to The Raw Story.
“As the Democrats’ financial position continues to improve, the greater their opportunities become,” said former NRCC official Ken Spain.
The GOP is seeking help from Las Vegas casino mogul Sheldon Adelson, who has already contributed roughly $20 million to the House GOP-aligned Congressional Leadership Fund super PAC, according to Politico.
Meanwhile, Senior Republicans have been reaching out to big donors. On Tuesday, White House senior adviser Jared Kushner appeared at a Republican Jewish Coalition meeting, and later that day he addressed a U.S. Chamber of Commerce gathering.
