GOP Lawmaker: We Use Flip Phones & Faxes, Not Cocaine & Orgy Houses

A member of the Republican Party has really upset his colleagues with something he said, which they think reflects badly on their party. However, it wasn’t his attack on the President of Ukraine, or his latest traffic violation incident, or his declaration that he was armed on the House floor, in violation of regulations, the day that Trump supporters tried to carry out a coup.

It’s what he said about fellow lawmakers that they’re upset about.

Cawthorn, as previously reported, says that he’s been invited to orgies by people in D.C., people he had looked up to his whole life. He also says some of the leaders in the war on drugs are people he’s witnessed doing cocaine.

Now some Republicans seem to be concerned that speculation about who Cawthorn is describing — someone who has been in office long enough for the 26-year-old to say “I’ve looked up to [them] through my life,” and someone far enough right that Cawthorn would hold them in esteem — could fall on them.

According to Politico, the GOP Conference held a private meeting to discuss what should be done about the allegations, with GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy agreeing to address Cawthorn directly about his public statements.

Representative Steve Womack (R-AR) among others expressed that it wasn’t appropriate for Cawthorn to describe lawmakers that way, since, he says, many still go to bed at 9pm and use flip phones and fax machines.

They also speculated that perhaps Cawthorn was just trying to repair his own image, since there have been allegations against him of sexual misconduct.

You can watch the clip below to see how Cawthorn described his colleagues.
