There are terrible Republican governors across the country like Ron DeSantis, Kristi Noem, and Brian Kemp. But there are also moderate Republicans overseeing blue states like Charlie Baker, Phil Scott, and Larry Hogan.

Despite being from the Deep South, Asa Hutchinson has proven himself to be more of a moderate as well. The Arkansas governor encouraged his constituents to get vaccinated. Hutchinson has also been willing to call out Trump and recently explained why the former president shouldn’t lead the party going forward.
Hutchinson, who leads the National Governors Association, said during a recent meeting, “I do not believe Trump is the one to lead our party and our country again, as president.”
The Arkansas governor continued, “And, you know, the Republican Party has many different voices. And it’s important in this time to have those voices and they should be concentrating on this election cycle.”
Hutchinson closed on the topic of Trump by discussing the former president’s election lies. “I’ve made it clear: This is about the future,” he said. “It’s not about the past elections.”
