A Republiacn who’s running for U.S. Senate says that he’s been warned he may be attacked for exposing Trump ally Michael Flynn in a plot that he says was intended to blackmail election officials into running biased audits after the former president lost his bid for re-election.
There has been a widespread push in the Trump camp for more audits, as Donald Trump and his biggest fans spread the false claim that fraud flipped the election. Trump allies claim that Joe Biden actually got fewer votes, but that by a complicated compilation of fraudulent strategies including tampering with voting machines and sneaking in fake ballots, Democrats ‘stole’ the election for Biden.
If you believe Everett Stern, Michael Flynn is part of a different Republican faction than Donald Trump.
“General Flynn is controlling a group called the Patriot Caucus. Initially, when I first ran into this group I thought they were the patriots, which is different. The patriots are more aligned with Trump, but the Patriot caucus is different. They focus more on national security issues, except their national security version is that they believe they’re living under a terrorist state with Biden as president. In fact, they don’t believe Biden is President. They believe President Trump is president,” he says, describing the qanon conspiracy theories that many Trump allies have promoted.
He says he was approached by Patriot Caucus members who wanted him to dig up dirt on “senators, judges, congressmen, [and] state rep[resentatives]” so that it could be used to “extort and literally move people” towards supporting pro-Trump audits.
Following the speech, he says that he’s been warned of “very real concerns by the government” for his safety, and that he fears he could face attacks for sharing information about Flynn.
There are very real concerns from the Government. I am not sure what to do. I was told to be as careful as possible and stay safe. Not exactly the most reassuring situation.

Ultimately, Stern says, even if he is attacked, the information has been handed over to “various people” and the media and FBI will both be exposing Flynn’s alleged crimes in short order.
Flynn’s name is among the most recent names on a growing list of subpoenas the January 6th Committee has issued to bring in witnesses for questioning about the events leading up to the attack on Congress.
