Ghislaine Maxwell has had it pretty good during her 58 years on the planet. She was born to publishing tycoon Robert Maxwell and lived in splendor since her birth. This lifestyle continued after she started dating billioniare pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
The luxury, however, came to a halt in July of 2020 when she was arrested on charges of sex trafficking of minors. Since then, Maxwell has been locked up at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center. Through her lawyers, the heiress recently complained that she was being mistreated in jail.
Following Jeffrey Epstein’s prison suicide, Maxwell has been held in solitary confinement. She has recently been taken off suicide watch but remains in solitary.
Through her lawyers, the heiress has requested to be placed in general population. The request read:
“Ms. Maxwell does not seek special treatment at the MDC; but she does ask that she not be specially disfavored in her treatment in detention, especially when it comes to preparing her defense to conduct that allegedly took place over 25 years ago. In light of the voluminous discovery that we expect to receive, Ms. Maxwell would normally be spending 40 hours a week or more reviewing the discovery. Ms. Maxwell should be granted a comparable amount of time to review the discovery in the MDC so that she can engage in her defense full-time.”
The former girlfriend of Jeffrey Epstein has quite a wait ahead of her whether in solitary or general population. The trial isn’t set to begin until July of 2021.
