George W. Bush offered an official statement about Donald Trump’s inauguration but his private comments are gaining far more attention.
Before the event, a statement said the former President and First Lady are “pleased to be able to witness the peaceful transfer of power — a hallmark of American democracy — and swearing-in of President Trump and Vice President Pence.”
A report from NYMag shared a different view from the former U.S. President.
According to 3 witnesses, after the ceremony concluded, Bush said, “That was some weird sh*t.”
Whenever historians write about Trump's inauguration, we *will* quote Pres. Bush's take: "That was some weird shit." https://t.co/R4lvtf9SJI

We could have brushed this off as nothing more than a rumor if three different people didn’t hear Bush offer up his harsh assessment of Trump’s first moments as the POTUS.
George W. Bush had some incredibly weird moments during his own presidency, there’s no denying that, but his assessment of Trump’s inauguration is also oddly on point.
