It did not take Donald Trump long to figure out that his supporters would go along with pretty much anything he said. So if he ever does face criticism or controversy, he just assigns the blame to someone else.

Trump recently participated in a long-ranging interview with the Washington Post. During the talk, the former President attempted to blame the 1/6 insurrection on Nancy Pelosi and Muriel Bowser.
When asked for his thoughts on the event, Trump told Josh Dawsey:
“Yep I thought it was a shame, and I kept asking why isn’t she doing something about it? Why isn’t Nancy Pelosi doing something about it? And the mayor of D.C. also. The mayor of D.C. and Nancy Pelosi are in charge. I hated seeing it. I hated seeing it. And I said, ‘It’s got to be taken care of,’ and I assumed they were taking care of it.”
Article II of the Constitution, “The executive power shall be vested in a President of the United States of America…. The President shall be commander in chief of the Army and Navy of the United States.
Conway also referenced a 2019 brag where Trump claimed, “I have an Article II, where I have the right to do whatever I want as President.” The lawyer then mock quoted 2021 Trump, “The Mayor of DC and Nancy Pelosi are in charge.”
