She Wanted To Say Thank You
She wanted to give the coffee as a present. It was strange to see a police officer out of uniform in this area and she watched as he took it from her with a grin.
She yelled a warning at him as he rushed recklessly into his vehicle. Then, an agonizing yell echoed back to her a moment later.
A Bad Week For Ary
Regrettably, Aryanna Kotick's week had not started off well. She was unable to pay the rent for the prior month, meaning she was about to endure her landlord's criticism. She had been doing extra hours at work in an effort to accumulate the money to cover the cost.
She had no intention of this occurring. In contrast to a lot of her associates, she had no animosity towards the cop.
Looking For Work
Aryanna had consistently followed an uncomplicated lifestyle. She was a twenty-five-year-old barista at a Starbucks in Seattle and simply wanted to cover her expenses.
After completing her studies in art, she realized that there weren't as many job openings as she had originally anticipated. It's obvious that her employment at Starbucks was a blessing.
Beggars Can't Be Chooser
Aryanna had been on the hunt for a job for almost three months when she eventually got the barista position. Unfortunately, the Starbucks was not located in a secure location.
Despite not wanting to, Ary realized that she had to take whatever job she could find. She needed money to pay her bills, so she put on her apron and began her shift. She had no idea what was coming.
Why Do They Hate Him
The officer was not well-liked by the employees of the cafe. Ary, as the new employee, was perplexed as to why her colleagues had an unfavorable opinion of him.
Nonetheless, she didn't take on their beliefs without attempting to be acquainted with him first. On that hazardous area of town, having a positive relationship with any police officer was usually beneficial. But her endeavor to become friendly with him would end up being the most serious catastrophe of her life.
It Happens
Ary had been working in the coffee shop for three months when it occurred. On a chilly Friday night, with the rain thumping down outside and the cafe completely deserted.
Arya observed the rain coming down the sizeable window, wishing she was in her own house wrapped up in a blanket while grasping a nice novel. She jolted herself, glancing at her watch. She still had six hours left on the timer.
A Stormy Evening
Removing a book from her purse, she thought of ways to occupy herself while expecting somebody to enter the store. Ordinarily, during a turbulent evening there was no one who came in.
Most individuals liked having their drinks brought to their houses. Some people went to the drive-through, not entering the store. However, that was not the situation with the policeman.
Off Duty
Ary gave him a grin when he stepped inside the store. He had on a t-shirt and blazer over a pair of denim pants and shoes that a father would wear. It was apparent that he wasn't at work.
Ary's co-workers had unhappy expressions when he shouted a hello to them. He was the only one to respond with a wave and a grin as the official walked up to the desk.
A Regular Coffee
What do you desire today, sir?" she said in a pleasant manner, understanding the influence of goodwill. "A typical cup of coffee, if you don't mind," he replied. He looked her up and down, "Do I believe you can prepare me one of those?
Ary responded with a grin. She noticed the condescending inflection in the police officer's voice, however she decided not to think about it. She reminded herself that having the support of a cop is vital in this area.
It's On The House
She prepared the policeman's beverage and swiftly passed it across the counter. He pulled out some money, yet Ary promised him the coffee was a freebie.
With a worried expression, he questioned if she was joking. "No," Ary answered. "This is our way of showing our appreciation for your hard work." The policeman nodded and grinned back, unaware of the surprise awaiting him.
Be Careful
He picked up the steaming coffee and quickly said his farewells before dashing off into the downpour. "Be cautious!" Ary shouted after him.
Hot coffee was not a joke. She knew from personal experience how dangerous it could be because of the scar on her left arm - one of her first injuries in the shop. This incident would be even worse than that.
Isn't He Human?
Ary went back to her book right after the policeman climbed into his automobile. He had not arrived in his patrol car today, demonstrating he was not working.
Ary was still searching for an answer as to why her co-workers didn't take to her. Wasn't she exactly the same as them, wasn't she entitled to the same kindness, respect, and understanding? While she was pondering this, a terrifying shriek came from the car.
A Scream
Ary's posture stiffened and her eyes were suddenly drawn away from her book. The loud scream made her body tense up and her gaze slowly scanned the store, seeing that everyone else had also been startled.
Her fellow employees had heard the outcry as well. They exchanged glances before all glancing at the lawman's vehicle, being battered by the heavy rainfall. Something was very wrong.
Get To Him
Aryanna sprinted to the exit, desperate to reach the policeman. Something was wrong with him and she had to act fast.
She was in agony when she realized that none of her colleagues seemed to be concerned with the situation. They gazed at her as if she had gone crazy running out in the heavy rain. They appeared to have more important matters to attend to.
Locked Doors And Tinted Windows
Aryanna attempted to pull the policeman's entrance open, but it was secure from the inside. Furthermore, the windows had a dark hue and rain was making it harder for Aryanna to see.
She was unsure of the events unfolding, only able to make out the policeman's moans of pain from inside the car. "Unlock the door!" she shouted in the shower of rain. "Please, sir, let me try and help!
Open The Door
Aryanna attempted to unlock the four entrances of the car, anxiously tugging at the knobs. Still, none of them moved.
She pivoted, her gaze inspecting the car park for anything that could help her reach the window. She had never heard a man scream so agonizingly and recognized she had to get to him. She would do whatever it took to accomplish that objective.
I Need A Stone
Ary sprinted to an enormous boulder at the edge of the car park, quickly returning with it. She tossed it towards the back window of one of the vehicles, but nothing happened.
She gave it another shot, heaving the rock with all her might as a streak of lightning flashed in the night sky and the loud sound of thunder echoed. Unfortunately, the rock did not break the window.
Can't Get Through
The vehicle, that belonged to a police officer, had windows that could not be penetrated by bullets, causing no surprise. Ary yelled, "Sir, please unlock the door!
Two of her colleagues had already revealed their identities. Watching her battle to reach the policeman seemed to spark a reaction and eventually he came to help. Nevertheless, did they make it in time?
There's Nothing Else She Could Do
Ary and her colleagues took a few minutes to understand that they had limited ability to unlock the car doors.
Someone had already contacted the emergency services and a medical team was in transit. All the bystanders could do was stay in the wetness, hearing the policeman's shouts without any way to reach him.
Help Is Here
The EMTs managed to unlock the cop's door. They moved him onto a gurney, and Ary was incredibly shocked to view the condition of the person.
Although his garments were still whole, his lower body was drenched with spilt coffee. The person was unconscious before the EMTs extracted him. They thanked Ary for attempting to lend a hand, rolled the man into the ambulance, and drove off. Ary assumed this was done when in fact it was just starting.
Going To Back To Work
Ary and her colleagues returned to their tasks, and Ary's work period ended in a flash. She removed her cover, crammed her book into her sack, and hastily made her way home.
Despite being at home, she could not erase the sound of the officer's wailing from her memory. She had never heard anyone yell from being scalded by hot coffee, and she knew that there was something else going on.
A Quiet Weekend
Ary's weekend was tranquil. The confrontation with the policeman stuck in her head, and she was unable to focus on anything else, no matter how much effort she put in.
On Monday, she headed off to her job. All of a sudden, she noticed an automobile that was quite recognizable. She was aware right away that this was going to be a different day than usual.
The Regional Manager
Ary recognized that the day would be distinctive when they noticed their local director's vehicle sitting by the entrance. This was most likely due to the episode with the policeman.
She rushed into the store, prepared to accept her punishment. Was it her mistake that the cop got injured? After all, she was the one who gave him the coffee. Was the district manager present to terminate her?
It's Time
He noticed her the second she entered. Ary was taken aback that he knew her name. "I received word of the incident here," he voiced, and her heart sank.
Her colleagues likely informed him of the incident. They likely divulged that it was her responsibility that the policeman was hurt. What other purpose could an entire regional manager have for going to such a hazardous area?
It's You
The man inquired of Ary, his forehead lines furrowing. What was the story here? "Were you the person who rushed to assist the officer?
Ary mumbled in agreement. The area supervisor carried on, their expression suddenly becoming severe, something that hadn't been there before. Ary began to get really worried.
We Will Help You In Any Way
We comprehend how frightening this circumstance can be. We want you to be aware that we are here to assist you in whatever manner we can.
I am here to advise you that a police officer will be arriving tomorrow to hear your account. We will quickly send a legal representative to be with you if you need any assistance. He gave the impression that he wished to say something else but chose not to. What was going on?
How Is He Doing
Ary inquired, "Is all alright? How is the policeman doing? Is he okay?" The regional director responded, wiping his hand across his face, "He is recuperating as we talk.
He was hurt badly in the crash. He is currently doing okay, but medical personnel have planned an operation for him.
How Bad Is It?
Ary gazed at the doctor with watery eyes. Her stomach churned and she was on the brink of vomiting. She apprehensively inquired, "Will I need to go through an operation?
She felt a burning sensation in her head. She was responsible for the policeman's harm. "I apologize," she uttered. "I comprehend it's all my blame. He wouldn't have been injured like this if I didn't give him that coffee." Was the injury so severe that he needed to go through an operation?
Is She Innocent
The regional manager explained that the officer was not to blame for what occurred. The policeman has had Crohn's disease for a while and the liquid that spilled on him caused a powerful reaction.
Ary groaned, covering her face with her palms. "What have I gotten myself into?" the manager attempted to console her. "This isn't your fault.
Go Home
He suggested that Ary take a break for the day in order for her to be able to provide a clear account when it came to her statement. After that, he moved away to communicate with the rest of her colleagues and then made his way to the boss's workplace.
Ary followed directions. She returned to her house and after a period of 60 minutes the company attorney showed up. The lawyer was friendly to Ary and confirmed she had not done anything wrong. However, in the conversation, the representative revealed one fact. The representative was seeking to receive one million dollars from Starbucks in a legal dispute.
