Fox’s MacCallum Claims That Trump’s Treatment of Asylum Seekers Was More Humane Than Biden’s
Donald Trump tried to do a number of disgraceful things while he was in office. But perhaps his most disgraceful act was his family separation policy for immigrants seeking asylum in America.
And Joe Biden has inherited a mess at the border. The current administration is trying to figure out how to humanely deal with the issue.
Fox News, though, has seized on the crisis as a way to distract from Biden’s legislative successes. In fact, host Martha MacCallum claimed that Trump treated asylum seekers more humanely than Biden.
MacCallum made the comments during a discussion with Dana Perino. Perino began, “Mitt Romney had a really good point. He said what they’re doing down there at the border now by saying don’t come yet or accepting children but not the parents, that that is actually a de facto child separation policy.”
“It is,” replied MacCallum. “It’s pretty hard to see it any other way. It’s hard to see it as any more humane than what happened under the Trump administration. In many ways, you could make an argument that that was more humane. The signal that was sent, in the beginning the signal misfired. The idea was don’t come, because you’ll be separated from your children. ”
Perino followed, “It got away from them. Basically it was like we’re going to separate you to deter you from coming. Now the de facto part is that now if the kids are allowed to stay and the parents aren’t, they’re making the same decision.”
