Fox News’s Chris Wallace Calls AG Barr Out For ‘Acting As The Counselor For The Defense’
Prior to the release of the long-awaited report compiled by special counsel Robert Mueller on the Russia investigation and President Donald Trump’s actions during that inquiry, Attorney General William Barr held a press conference to discuss the report.
Many took issue with him doing so, believing he was acting on behalf of the president rather than working for the interests of the American people.
Fox News anchor Chris Wallace was among those who spoke out against Barr’s press conference on Thursday morning.
“The Attorney General seemed almost to be acting as the counselor for the defense, for the counselor for the president, rather than the Attorney General,” Wallace said.
“I suspect that Democrats’ heads on Capitol Hill were exploding,” Wallace added.
Mueller’s report was initially submitted to Barr in March, after which the attorney general wrote a four-page memo detailing his take on its contents. Many criticized Barr for doing so, and soon after some on the special counsel’s team even came forward and said that the attorney general had mischaracterized their research and findings, per previous reporting from HillReporter.com.
