Nearly immediately after the bombs were discovered at the homes of prominent Democrats, members of the Alt-Right speculated that it could be a false flag operation. In a since-deleted tweet, Lou Dobbs became the first member of the mainstream media to make such a claim.
In a post to his Twitter account, Dobbs wrote, “Fake News — Fake Bombs. Who could possibly benefit from so much fakery?”
While guests of Fox News have pushed forward the idea of the left being behind the bombs, Dobbs is the first host to make the claim. Dobbs is well known for spouting conspiracies about the Deep State. In January, the pundit claimed, “It may be time to declare war outright against the deep state and clear out the rot in the upper levels of the FBI and the Justice Department.”
Dobbs was quick to delete his tweet after only a few hours. It is unknown whether he was told to do so by the network or did it on his own accord.
The tweet was replaced by another which read, “Fake News has just successfully changed the narrative from the onslaught of illegal immigrants and broken border security to ‘suspicious packages.’ Let’s get back to the Left-Wing driven Caravans and the Dimms who encourage them.”
Fake News has just successfully changed the narrative from the onslaught of illegal immigrants and broken border security to "suspicious packages": Let's get back to Left-Wing driven Caravans and the Dimms who encourage them! #MAGA #AmericaFirst #Dobbs
