Bernie Sanders has had excellent showings so far in Iowa and New Hampshire and that’s not surprising. Joe Biden and Elizabeth Warren had terrible showings in those two states and that is kind of surprising.
The two candidates that have been able to go toe to toe, thus far, with Sanders, have been Pete Buttigieg and Amy Klobuchar. Fox News host Laura Ingraham thinks that might not be enough. On Tuesday night, the pundit compared Sanders continuing rise to that of Donald Trump in 2016.
Ingraham first compared “establishment” candidate Joe Biden to Jeb Bush. “Remember, Jeb Bush got stomped in Iowa and New Hampshire,” she asked. “He was the classic establishment candidate. He had all the money, about $150 million. Then he went down to South Carolina. He even brought his brother George W, former two—term president. And he still couldn’t win. And just like Biden is now, Jeb was the establishment.”
The host continued, “The Trump juggernaut passed South Carolina kept rolling along and then it was too late. The same will happen wit Bernie. He’ll become the juggernaut. The new anti-establishment juggernaut of the Democrat party.”
An energized Sanders has set his sights clearly on Trump. After last night’s win, he told his supporters, “Let me say tonight that this victory here is the beginning of the end for Donald Trump!” He continued, “We are gonna win because we have the agenda that speaks to the needs of working people throughout this country.”
