Fox News Hosts Make More Than $500,000 Speaking At GOP Events
Fox News’ most prolific primetime stars are openly in the Republican Party’s corner. That is no secret, as the network has always leaned conservative. However, some Fox personalities that are well-known to all of us have taken that a bit further. It seems some of them are making quite a bit of money by speaking at conservative organizations and official GOP events.
Media Matters for America, which is a left-leaning media watchdog group, put out a report detailing the unorthodox behavior. Collectively, hosts such as Jeanine Pirro, Tucker Carlson, Greg Gutfeld, and others have made roughly half a million dollars. From the report:
“Fox & Friends Weekend host Pete Hegseth made close to $20,000 on a series of speeches at official fundraisers and events for Republicans in 2018, and primetime host Laura Ingraham was revealed to have been paid $12,500 in 2016 for an event addressing the Sangamon County Republican Central Committee.”
Aside from that, Jeanine Pirro, host of Justice with Judge Jeanine, made $35,000 speaking at an event intended to elect Scott Wagner Governor of Pennsylvania. Greg Gutfeld made $36,000 speaking at a fundraising event held by the Republican Party itself.
For obvious reasons, this is the sort of thing most news outlets disallow altogether. Fox News isn’t doing anything about it, though. They simply make disapproving noises in the direction of such activity. Most news outlets would warn popular hosts that this is a breach of contract and fire them immediately.
One cannot claim to be a non-partisan entity while engaging in blatantly partisan activities. Whether or not Fox News does anything about what these hosts get up to in these moonlighting gigs is a story for another day.
