Joe Biden hasn’t had the easiest start to his presidency. He had to deal with the COVID mess that Donald Trump created. He also chose to honor the Afghanistan deal that Trump brokered with the Taliban.
But when it comes to the 46th president’s policy ideals, the measures are broadly supported. His infrastructure plan, in particular, is quite popular among voters.
Rather than talking about Biden’s policies, though, they focus more on talking about things that he is not in control of. This week, the issue has been gas prices. And over the weekend, Fox claimed that gas prices were up to $7.00 in the state of California.
Twitter’s Acyn Torabi shared a picture of Fox’s Jesse Watters with a chyron that read, “California gas prices now over $7.00 a gallon.”
While California does have the highest gas prices in the country, the average cost of a gallon of has in the state is currently $4.54. The lie was quickly pointed out by Meidas Touch’s Brett Meiseles who wrote, “I live in Califonia, and this is, of course, bullshit.”

Biden addressed the rising costs of gas during a recent town hall. He told attendees:
“Gas prices relate to a foreign policy initiative that is about something that goes beyond the cost of gas. That’s because of the supply being withheld by OPEC and so there’s a lot of negotiation that is — there’s a lot of Middle Eastern folks who want to talk to me. I’m not sure I’m going to talk to them, but the point is it’s about gas production. There’s things we can do in the meantime though.”
