Fox News Anchor Slams Trump After He Criticizes Her Colleagues

Fox News anchor Julie Banderas came to the defense of her colleagues John Roberts and Gillian Turner after President Donald Trump criticized them and compared their reporting to CNN and MSNBC, two of the media outlets he most frequently disparages.

“This is NOT right. I stand by my colleagues @johnrobertsFox and @GillianHTurner They don’t deserve this,” she said. “No reporter does. They are doing their jobs and reporting the facts.”

Although some of her followers pushed back, Banderas remained firm, saying that “bullying journalists is not presidential.”

Banderas later said she has “always stood up for journalists no matter what network they work for” when asked if she’d ever defended any reporters who’ve become targets of the president for running articles disfavorable to him and his administration.

The notoriously volatile Trump reactions have been especially pointed since Friday, when his longtime associate Roger Stone was arrested in connection with Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s probe into Russian interference. Shortly afterward, he acquiesced to demands that he end the 35-day government shutdown without receiving the $5.7 billion in funds he’d requested for the construction of a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border.

The president has threatened to shut down the government again within the next three weeks if negotiations about the wall’s future reach another stalemate.
