The Conservative media has attempted to both paint the virus as a middling issue while absolving Trump any blame for his response thus far. On Friday morning’s Fox & Friends, Pete Hegseth went as far as saying Democrats and the media hope the disease spreads and hurts Donald Trump’s reelection chances.

Hegseth began the segment by saying, “You watch the Democrats and the media, you start to feel like they are rooting for a coronavirus to spread. I don’t say that flippantly.”

The Fox & Friends contributor said that Democrats and the media have failed to remove Trump from office and the epidemic is their big shot. According to the host they’re, “rooting for unknown cases, mysteries, quarantines if towns for it  become an absolute national crisis for one reason and one reason alone: they have yet to find a reason to try to drag down the presidency of Donald Trump.”

“And because this could be a national crisis, it already is grabbing international headlines, if it takes hold in the United States of America,” Hegseth concluded. “Even though it is not the fault of Donald Trump they will try it to pin it to him like his Katrina moment and make it political.”
