Founder Of ‘Pro-Family’ Org Says LGBTQ Individuals Can’t Celebrate Thanksgiving — ‘Ingratitude Forms A Core Ingredient’ Of Their Ethos, She Claims

With the Thanksgiving holiday just one more day away, some conservatives have decided to use the occasion to make a political statement.

President Donald Trump on Tuesday suggested there was a war on Thanksgiving during a rally in Florida, and suggested the left was trying to change the name of the holiday altogether, per a previous report from HillReporter.com.

But a far-right leader took things in a different direction, penning an opinion piece this week that suggested members of the LGBTQ community don’t celebrate Thanksgiving at all because they are not grateful for anything.

Linda Harvey founded the organization “Mission: America,” an organization that has earned a place on the Southern Poverty Law Center’s list of hate groups due to its vociferous anti-LGBTQ stances. According to Harvey’s bio page, “Mission: America” is “a Christian pro-family organization tracking current cultural issues.”

In a now-deleted article from the Christian website LifeSite News, Harvey insisted that several left-leaning individuals are naturally ungracious.

“It’s that time of year when being grateful rises to the top of our priority list – for most of us, that is. Sadly, some people are simply ungrateful, and proudly so,” Harvey said in her opinion piece.

“[I]ngratitude forms a core ingredient of the ‘LGBT’ community, the pro-abortion movement, and the left in general,” she wrote, implying that those who deviated from her version of God’s message were inherently ungrateful.

Harvey continued to hound on LGBTQ individuals, insisting that their behavior caused extreme emotional harm toward their families.

“The internet is replete with homosexual/transgender hostility toward parents, those who lovingly provided a home, allowance, support, and often college tuition, not to mention the child’s genetic heritage — and receive derision and scorn in return from sexually sinful or gender-deviant children,” Harvey wrote.

Often, it’s the other way around: LGBTQ youth who come out to their parents don’t always have that “special TV episode” moment, and a number of families disown their children or even threaten them with physical harm (including murder), according to an article from Cracked.com. Many LGBTQ youths end up homeless as a result of families that don’t embrace them. Suicide rates for the community are significantly higher than the general population.

But according to Harvey, LGBTQ individuals being truthful about their sexuality and who they love is a form of ingratitude. “The tears of these parents could fill a cathedral,” she wrote.

Harvey’s article, though deleted from LifeSite News, now appears on the American Family Association’s website. The SPLC has also designated that organization as a hate group.
