As the impeachment inquiry heats up, and as new developments seem to come in every day that paint President Donald Trump into a corner of allegations of wrongdoing, some believe that he may take drastic action in order to avoid the process altogether.
Speaking on Sunday’s edition of CNN’s “Reliable Sources” to host Brian Stelter, former Trump Organization vice president Barbara Res said that she believes the president will ultimately resign from his post rather than get impeached, similar to what happened with former President Richard Nixon.
Her reasoning? “He does a lot of things to save face,” Res explained.
“It would be very, very, very bad for him to be impeached. I don’t know that he’ll be found guilty but I don’t know that he wants to be impeached. I think that’s what this panic is about,” she added.
Res said she believes in her gut that Trump will “leave office, he’ll resign,” or he might “make some kind of a deal” to avoid being impeached.
The former construction engineer of Trump Tower added a caveat to her comments — she wasn’t 100 percent certain in her prediction. “I could very well be wrong,” she said.
Tea's often said Trump will never resign, but Barbara Res, ex-TrumpOrg VP, knows him better than just about anybody. Perhaps she's on to something?https://t.co/owFpKydw8c

But she did note that Trump’s actions in recent days mimic how he’s always behaved.
“He was always very quick to react, he never responded to anything, always reacted to it and got very, very angry,” Res said. “He had this notion that everything that happened that was bad was directed at him, like they were after him, people were after him.”
Earlier this year, Res also spoke candidly about her former boss’s behavior in the workplace — particularly, how he tended to make racist jokes, although she described them as “light-hearted,” previous reporting from HillReporter.com pointed out.
“[T]here were always black jokes going back and forth” in the Trump Organization, she said, “and he told them too.”
