Former RNC Boss Blasts His Own Party’s Stance Over Their Obvious Voter Suppression Tactics
Michael Steele was the first Black man to ever run the Republican National Committee. Now, he is going against his own party in the age of Donald Trump and this global pandemic we are all facing.
Their latest trick seems to be trying to block people from mail-in voting, even during a global pandemic, to drive down Democratic turnout.
Appearing on MSNBC’s AM Joy, Steele weighed in on these latest tactics. “Why the opposition to letting everybody vote the way Republicans vote?” host Joy Reid asked.
Steele had a simple, yet ominous response that would point to Trump being a cult leader, as so many of us have seen being all along.
“Because Trump is against it. That’s just the thumbnail of it,” Steele said.

And that is just the problem. The GOP is no longer a real political party. They are a personality cult, devoted not to their oaths of office, not to the nation, but to Trump himself, the man.
Steele went on to say that voting by mail often leads to better turnout, and that is something that Trump cannot risk as he goes into the 2020 election. The roughly 10 percent turnout that would increase via mail-in voting nationwide would be nothing short of disastrous for Republicans, and they know it.
The majority of the nation hates their cruel, draconian, bigoted policies. The party might understand this, but the Religious Right has them in a proverbial chokehold, so they will go the way of the dodo bird if they do not come into the 21st century.
Reasonable Republicans like Michael Steel gets this, that the GOP’s only hope to win is to suppress the vote and cheat their way to the top — even if it means selling their souls to the likes of Trump.
