Former Patients of ‘Gentle’ MAGA Dentist Gosar Now Avoid Him: ‘He’s Brainwashed’

[Writer’s disclosure: I am blocked by Paul Gosar on his personal Twitter account, where he tweets different content than from his official government Twitter account]

When he was still seeing patients in his dental practice, Republican Rep. Paul Gosar of Arizona was often described as “so kind and gentle” by those who sat in his chair. But Gosar’s descent into conspiracy theory-laden right-wing politics has astonished his former patients and staff, who now avoid Gosar whenever they see him as if he’s a member of their family.

A new profile in the Washington Post takes a look at Gosar’s fall from grace and just how he got sucked into the MAGA life. The essay reminds the reader that Gosar stood on the Senate floor only hours after the January 6th attack that his family has accused him of helping to plan and still fought to overturn the legitimate results of the 2020 Presidential election.

WASHINGTON, DC – MARCH 17: Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ) speaks during a news conference with members of the House Freedom Caucus about immigration on the U.S.-Mexico border outside the U.S. Capitol on March 17, 2021 in Washington, DC. Accusing the Biden Administration of partnering with with drug cartels, members of the conservative caucus listed numerous crimes along the border, including cattle rustling. The WaPo describes the scene:

…Gosar in footage from January 6th, standing on the floor of the House of Representatives — an American flag mask hanging beneath his nose, his head bobbing up and down — objecting to the certification of Joe Biden’s presidency on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives, shortly before insurrectionists attempted to break into the chamber to do the same. Gosar has devoted himself to…Donald Trump’s false claims about his election loss, promoting “Stop the Steal” rallies, referring to President Biden as “an illegitimate usurper” and calling the angry masses who laid siege to the Capitol “peaceful patriots.”

The piece goes on to discuss just how Gosar, who was the Arizona Dental Association’s 2001 Dentist of the Year, devolved into a “conspiracy-minded, race-baiting congressman” and says it “isn’t exactly surprising to anyone paying attention to today’s GOP and its associated right-wing media personalities, whose adoption of Trump’s personal bugbears has made conspiracy theorists of many rank-and-file Republicans.”
