Former GOP Strategist: Ashli Babbit is Dead Because of Trump and Paul Gosar

The GOP has spent the last few weeks trying to change the narrative on the 1/6 insurrection. According to some lawmakers, the mob was orderly and not a threat to anyone. Rep. Andew Clyde likened them to tourists.

WASHINGTON, DC – MARCH 17: Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ) speaks during a news conference with members of the House Freedom Caucus about immigration on the U.S.-Mexico border outside the U.S. Capitol on March 17, 2021 in Washington, DC. Accusing the Biden Administration of partnering with with drug cartels, members of the conservative caucus listed numerous crimes along the border, including cattle rustling. And now, some in the party are trying to turn Ashli Babbitt, a rioter killed by the police, as some kind of martyr. After Paul Gosar penned a tweet honoring her on Friday, Tim Miller responded that the died because of Gosar and Trump’s lies.

Gosar retweeted a message yesterday that read, “Ashli Babbitt loved and served her country honorably.” The Arizona Republican captioned his message, “They took her life. They could not take her pride.”

Fellow Republican Adam Kinzinger responded, “Paul you’ve lost your mind. Side note to anyone watching, don’t breach the house floor illegally, especially after warned.”

Miller, a former Republican strategist, took it a step farther during a Friday night appearance on Chris Hayes show. He told the host:

“I’m so sick of being lectured by Trump supporters about caring about the feelings and desires of the 74 million people that voted for him. Because they were lied to. And in some ways, they are victims here too, and Ashli Babbitt would not have been there that day if it wasn’t for Donald Trump and Paul Gosar. Ashli Babbitt is dead because of them. Her death is on them. They are responsible for it. And I just think we need to understand that and state that clearly going forward.”
