Nobody Was Paying Attention
Angela could not believe what she had seen. She went to work despite having her head spinning all day. Despite her manager's concerns, she needed the money.

However, looking back, it might not have been such a good idea. As she watched the customer closely, she became increasingly concerned. What was the reason no one else seemed concerned? Did they even see him? It felt as if she was going mad.
Something Was Off
Immediately after he entered the room, Angela noticed him. There was something different about him compared to their usual customers. Still, she knew that she would have to do her best to serve him.

It wasn't long before she learned things that indicated he was a suspicious individual. Her manager disagreed. Was it all just her imagination? Perhaps morning sickness was causing her problems. It was important for her to be certain.
Feeling Uncomfortable
Angela froze whenever she thought about returning to the man, but she had to give him the bill. At the very least, it would be her last meeting with him.

Her attention was drawn once again to his appearance as she approached him. As she walked, she stared at his trenchcoat while holding the bill in her hand. Sadly, he noticed what she was doing.
Making It Obvious
There was no subtlety in Angela's suspicions. Apparently, the man noticed that she was curious about what he was hiding. She was startled at that point and made a rash decision.

It was then that Angela saw what was beneath the coat. Her eyes widened at the sight of what she saw as he readjusted it slightly. Is that a glint of metal on his leg?
Keeping A Secret
Angela felt her body fill with dread. Daggers flashed in the man's eyes as he realized she was on to him. It was enough for her to tell what it was based on the glint of metal she only caught a glimpse of.

Clearly, he was hiding it all along. Her impression of the man was correct. What was his next move? Her attention was suddenly drawn to him, reaching slowly toward it. It was something she wasn't prepared for.
Speaking To Her
Out of nowhere, the man said, "You like staring, don't you?" Other than ordering his meal, he was very quiet. There was nothing more she could do to him now that she had caught on to him.

“What if I gave you a better look?" he asked. Angela's heart started racing at that moment. Her job was not worth losing everything for. It was time to call the police and get in touch with her manager.
Getting The Manager
As soon as Angela reached her manager, she rushed to tell him everything that had happened. His eyes widened. Eventually, he showed signs of wanting to take action. In a matter of seconds, he dialed 911 from his phone.

Why did the man continue to sit there? After Angela fled, he didn't chase her or confront her. Could she have misjudged the secretive man? It would be up to the police to decide.
Young Love
Family was the most important thing to Angela Miller. After graduating from high school, she got married to her boyfriend. Having known each other since high school, they knew there would be no separating them.

However, the young couple had to struggle to make ends meet. As Roger worked full-time, she felt guilty about not having her own job. As a result, she began searching for a job.
Hired
Angela searched for a few weeks before finding a diner that was seeking new employees. It was a great opportunity for her to earn some extra cash for her and her fiancé's future together, so she jumped at the chance. However, the job wasn't what she had envisioned.

It was requested that she start as soon as possible. Having received Roger's approval, she wore her sneakers and went to work. Although the hours would be long, she was prepared for anything. She thought that was the case.
Financial Motivation
It took Angela a few days to get her first paycheck, but it was worth every minute. Unfortunately, the new development would cause her to need the money even more than she could have imagined.

During her shift, Angela felt dizzy. On her way home, she grabbed something she didn't need and almost passed out.
Pregnancy Test
Walking home, Angela stopped at a pharmacy on the way. She decided to buy some medication for her dizziness, but more importantly, she bought a pregnancy test just in case. She did it just as a precaution.

She could never have anticipated anything actually happening, but when she got home, she used it just in case. She had no idea what to expect., but once the results were in, Angela screamed.
Positive
Roger ran inside the bathroom, thinking that she'd slipped or found a spider, but none of that was true. He looked at the pregnancy test on the counter and saw that it was positive. He couldn't believe it.

Angela was standing, frozen in place. "I'm pregnant!" She shouted, a smile on her face. The two couldn't believe it. It was an unexpected surprise, but they were happy for the miracle nonetheless.
Needing It Now More Than Ever
Angela realized that now her job was more important than ever before. She needed the money so that she could pay for all the extra costs that came with a baby. This meant she worked even harder than before, picking up double shifts.

But the extra work took a toll on the pregnant woman. Her pregnant symptoms would only hinder her in her work. But something else was about to happen.
A Man She'd Never Seen Before
One evening, Angela was working late. The diner was understaffed, and she was one of the only waitresses serving customers. She had already been on the floor for eight hours, but she knew she could do more.

But her pregnancy was only getting in the way. She was feeling dizzy and nauseous once again. She knew she could push a little harder. That's when a man walked in.
More Than He Was Letting On
A man in a trenchcoat walked through the doors of the diner. It wasn't raining or cold, so why was he wearing it? It didn't matter too much what he wore as long as he sat down and ordered something.

The man found a booth to sit down in and sat there. But there was something Angela noticed right off the bat. He had a strange walk to him as if there was more under his trenchcoat than he was letting on.
Quiet
The man seemed quiet and drawn within himself. Angela approached him and, in the warmest tone, said, "Hello! What can I get for you?" But the man seemed shy and only replied in one word, "A coffee, please."

Angela went back to get herself a coffee but had a strange feeling about the man. Between her dizziness and fatigue, she saw that something didn't appear quite right. Then she thought about it, was she really imagining things?
Doubts
Angela took a second to think about what had just happened. She leaned against the kitchen door and looked back at the man. But she didn't see him sitting there anymore. That's when she really started doubting herself.

Was she imagining everything? Was the man even real? She had to get to the bottom of things. She had already made the coffee. What would she do with it now?
Finding Him
Then Angela saw him again. This time, he was sitting at another table. Had he moved, or was he really a figment of her imagination? She decided to give him the coffee anyway, fearing repercussions.

She walked to the table and gave him his coffee before saying, "Why did you move?" But the man seemed offended by the question, "I have a better view of everyone and everything." The words were ominous. What was he up to?
Couldn't Believe It
Angela couldn't believe what she saw. Her head had been spinning all day, but she still went to work. Her manager didn't think she should have been working, but she needed the money.

But in hindsight, maybe it wasn't such a good idea. She watched the customer closely. Why wasn't anyone else concerned? Could they even see him? She felt like she was going crazy.
Her Manager
She walked up to her manager and asked him what he thought of the man. He turned his head and said, "It doesn't matter what anyone looks like. Just serve them." He didn't even turn to look at the man.

This meant Angela was still unsure of what was going on, but she had to do her job, or she'd be fired. She thought back about the events that all led up to this moment.
Her Manager Was Clueless
Angela noticed him as soon as he came through the door. He didn't look anything like their usual customers. Still, though, she knew she had to serve him just like everyone else.

Since then, She had learned things that made him a suspicious character. But her manager didn't seem to think so. Was it all just in her head? It could have just been morning sickness that was doing this to her. But she had to be sure.
Giving Him The Bill
As much as Angela froze up every time she thought about going back to the man, she would have to give him the bill. It would be the final time she'd have to see him, at least.

But as she approached him, she examined his appearance more closely once again. She walked with the bill in her hand and stared at his trenchcoat. Unfortunately, he noticed what she was doing.
Startling Him
Angela wasn't subtle about her suspicions. It seemed the man noticed that she was trying to get a good look at what he was hiding. That's when she got startled and decided to do something rash.

That's when Angela finally got a good glimpse of what he had underneath the coat. He pulled it slightly to readjust, and she couldn't believe what she saw. Was that a glint of metal by his leg?
What He Was Hiding
Dread suddenly flooded Angela's body. The man stared daggers at her, not happy that she was on to him. The glint of metal that she only caught a glimpse of was enough for her to be sure about what it was.

He must have been hiding it all along. She was right to have a bad feeling about the man. But what was his next move? Suddenly, she watched him reach slowly toward it. She wasn't ready for what it would be.
A Better Look
"You like staring, don't you?" The man said out of nowhere. He had been very quiet other than ordering his meal. He knew she was on to him now, and there was nothing else that she could do.

"Why don't I give you a better look?" The man continued. But that's when Angela's heart started racing. She wasn't ready to lose everything just for her job. She had to get to her manager and call the police.
Calling 911
Angela quickly sprinted to her manager, where she told him everything. His eyes went wide, finally, he seemed eager to do something about it. He pulled out his phone and quickly dialed 911.

But why was the man still just sitting there? After Angela had fled, he didn't chase her or do anything confrontational. Had she misjudged the secretive man? The police would decide.
Police Arrive
After waiting nervously for a few minutes, the police finally arrived. The man in the trenchcoat was sitting patiently in the booth, still wondering what Angela was doing. The officer turned to the man and said, "Sir, I'm afraid you're going to have to show me what you've got underneath your coat."

The man seemed enraged by the request. His hands started shaking as he said, "You want to know what I have? Fine, I'll show you."
Shiny Metal
The officer made sure that the man had to comply. Angela was hiding behind the counter, having no idea how things would end. The man got up and grabbed his trenchcoat. He pulled it to the side, and Angela saw a flash of metal.

She was right about it, but things weren't exactly what they had seemed. Once his trenchcoat was pulled to the side, she'd regret ever confronting the man.
A Prosthetic Leg
Angela finally caught a glimpse of the metal she'd seen earlier, but her blood ran cold when she saw what it actually was. "There, are you all happy now?" The man said in a confrontational tone.

He was sticking out his prosthetic leg. That's why he was walking funny earlier, not because of a concealed weapon. Angela couldn't believe her mistake. But the repercussions would be even greater.
Apologizing
Angela was the first person to run out and apologize to the man. She offered to pay him back for the coffee and do anything else that made things right. But the man didn't want anything to do with her.

He told her that he would never come back and stormed out of the restaurant after leaving enough money for the coffee. Angela managed to talk her manager out of firing her. She was just looking out for the safety of her patrons, but she did learn not to judge a book by its cover ever again.
