Ex: Trump Lawyer Ty Cobb Lauds Jack Smith For 'Threading the Needle'

During an appearance on CNN on Monday night, former Trump lawyer Ty Cobb praised Jack Smith's superseding indictment against Donald Trump.

Cobb helped defend Donald Trump during the former president's first term in office, but he has also shown a willingness to speak out against him as a CNN analyst. The lawyer was nothing short of astonished by how Smith could adjust in a way that doesn't let Trump off the hook.

He began, "This is a very forceful document. It's pared down. Every sentence is crisply worded. It's a tight narrative. You can't read this and not understand the crimes that Trump actually committed."

The lawyer also laid out how this new filing was going to make life difficult for Trump's defense team, saying, "I think this threads the needle. If I'm Trump's lawyers and I'm surprised I'm scratching my head at that because this was the reasonable approach to take."

Trump, of course, will be hoping that the Supreme Court could step in an attempt to rescue him and they may. But the case will not be heard before the November election. Cobb continued, "This hasn't been on course to go before the election for months. That always was never going to happen."
