Ex-Bush Strategist Lays Out How Trump is Alienating Voters He Needs

During a recent appearance on MSNBC, former Bush strategist Matthew Dowd laid out how Donald Trump is upsetting the very voters he will need to win the election in November.

Since Kamala Harris took over as the Democratic presidential candidate, Donald Trump has been spiralling. In response, the Republican's team has seemingly pulled him off the road. But they can't keep him from holding events like the one he did with Elon Musk on Tuesday night.

During that appearance on Twitter, Trump talked about hurting union workers, many of whom are supportive of the GOP. Dowd said of the messaging:

"You have to try to win each day. The Harris-Walz effort today is much better positioned to win each day, or win more days of the 85. Trump has to catch up both in organization and he has to figure out a way not to be his chaotic self and establish some level of message discipline."

The GOP operative continued:

"You don't go to a platform hosted by Elon Musk to establish message discipline, that's the first problem. Second... there's key states in this election -- Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Nevada, Arizona -- all have this dominant force of union workers where if they're activated and enthusiastic behind a candidate, which is what they seem to be moving toward with Harris-Walz, it's a very, very huge problem for Donald Trump."
