If one thing has remained unwavering through all of Donald Trump’s trials and tribulations, it’s his support from Evangelical Christians. In a July 2019 survey conducted by NPR, 73% of White Evangelical Christians approved of the job the President was doing compared to 23% who disapproved.
On Friday, however, Trump lost the support of one very important Christian publication. Christianity Today, an important Evangelical periodical, called for the impeachment of Donald Trump.
The magazine is significant in Evangelical Christian circles. It was started by legendary evangelist, Billy Graham. The Washington Post has referred to it as, “evangelicalism’s flagship magazine.”

The article compares the impeachment trial of Bill Clinton to that of Trump. The piece notes, “It’s time to say what we said 20 years ago when a president’s character was revealed for what it was.”
The piece also opines that Trump is not fit to remain President of the United States. It continues, “None of the president’s positives can balance the moral and political danger we face under a leader of such grossly immoral character.”
The opinion article also calls on Evangelicals to reconsider their support for Trump. The editor writes, “To the many evangelicals who continue to support Mr. Trump in spite of his blackened moral record, we might say this: Remember who you are and whom you serve.”
As of right now, the incredible amount of traffic has crashed the site and the article is not available. The White House has yet to comment on the content of the article.
