Pete Buttigieg has been riding a bit of a wave over the last month or so. The South Bend, Indiana mayor certainly had his share of supporters, but wasn’t considered a favorite to win the Democratic nomination. His campaign has caught fire, though, and he has now had top two finishes in both the Iowa Caucus and the New Hampshire Primary.
The candidate is also the first openly gay lawmaker to seek a major party nomination for President. This has put him in the crosshairs on many Evangelical Christian Groups. No religious leader, however, has been more extreme in their condemnation of Buttigieg than Bret Farias. The preacher recently penned an article that said Buttigieg was deserving of death for being a proud homosexual.
Farias made the claims while writing for the website, Charisma News. The preacher first complained about Buttigieg openly kissing his husband. He says, “One very influential and popular minister who has millions of followers was asked if homosexuality was wrong, and his general response was that his views were evolving. Evolving? That’s like saying the Bible is evolving. How pathetic of an answer.”
He continued, “In fact, when those who practice such things that are ‘deserving of death’ also approve of others who practice them (Rom. 1:32), it is one of God’s final signs of His wrath on a society.”
Unsurprisingly, while Farias believed Buttigieg deserved death, he thought the actions of Donald Trump were fine. He wrote that while Trump has apologized for his actions, Buttigieg is “pushing his homosexuality, not apologizing for it.”
