Embattled GOP Sen. McSally Attends Mask-less Picnic in Covid-Ridden Arizona
Martha McSally has not had a great last couple of years. She lost her 2018 senate bid to Kyrsten Sinema, but was then appointed to the other seat, which was vacant. She might not be there long. Multiple polls show McSally down by double digits to her former astronaut opponent, Mark Kelly.
The Arizona lawmaker is tied tight at the hip to President Donald Trump and attended a recent picnic to celebrate his 200th confirmed judge. The picnic was held in Arizona, which has seen a huge surge in Covid cases. Despite this, McSally did not wear a mask and, pictures show, that neither did most of the attendees.
The pictures of the rally were shared by Arizona Republican party chair Kelli Ward. Virtually none of the rally-goers are wearing face-masks in the image.
While she failed to wear a face-covering at the event, McSally has supported their use online. On June 30th, the lawmaker posted a photo of her wearing a mask, writing, “AZ, we can flatten the curve together! Wear a mask when you go out in public to prevent the spread of COVID-19.”
