Long before she was aiming for the Democratic nomination, Elizabeth Warren has been a thorn in Donald Trump’s side. She angers him to the point that he derisively refers to her as Pocahontas, based on her claims of Native American heritage. The President even used the insult during a 2017 event meant to honor Native American World War II veterans.
A big part of Warren’s push for the nomination is taking on Trump head on. During an appearance at the 2020 NAACP convention, the Massachusetts senator doubled down on calls for impeachment. She also took a shot at current Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, for not being more aggressive.
In April of this year, Warren became the first presidential candidate to call for impeachment hearings. She did so almost immediately after the Mueller Report came out.
On Wednesday, she told April Ryan, “I read the Mueller report the day it came out. And when I got to the end, I did not stick my finger in the air and ask about the politics. I did not hesitate. I read it. I knew what it said and I concluded first that this is a man who has broken the law and he should be impeached.”
Warren then knocked Pelosi for not being more aggressive. “l understand that there are people who for political reasons say it’s not where we want to be. But my view is some things are above politics,” said the candidate. “And one of them is our constitutional responsibilities to do what is right.”
