Elizabeth Warren: Biden Could Win Back Young Voters by Cancelling Student Debt

Joe Biden came into the White House with many challenges and has dealt with him the best he could. But COVID is raging thanks to the refusal of many to get vaccines. And thanks to Joe Manchin, he has had issues passing legislation.

As a result, the president has approval rating problems among a wide swath of voters. One of those groups of younger voters. Elizabeth Warren, though, says he could easily win back their support by canceling out student debt.

The Massachusetts senator told the Atlantic, “I believe the president should cancel student-loan debt because it is the right thing to do for people who have debt and the right thing to do in our economy.” She continued, “even someone who disagreed with me should take a very serious look at the polling data right now.”

Warren then noted, “One of the hardest things for an elected official to do is demonstrate to people that they can count on that elected official to be on their side. Canceling student-loan debt for more than 40 million Americans would persuade a lot of young people that this president is in the fight for them.”

Biden recently announced that he would forgive $11 billion in student loans. That amount, however, only covers around 1% of the outstanding student loans in the country.
