Dr. Scott Atlas is not, in any way, qualified for the job he has been tasked with. For political reasons, experienced pandemic doctors like Deborah Birx and Anthony Fauci have been sidelined. Atlas, however, is more than willing to say whatever Donald Trump wants him to, so he has been elevated.
And since he’s been made the main mouthpiece for the Trump administration, Atlas has not exactly covered himself in glory. His former colleagues from Stanford produced a letter outlining his deficiencies. And this weekend, Atlas appeared on the Russian propaganda television station RT. On Sunday, the doctor feigned ignorance, claiming he wasn’t aware of the network’s ties.
Atlas told Russian state TV, “The lockdowns are killing us. And by lockdowns, I don’t mean everyone frozen in time and their spacesuit, all alone in a room, because that’s easy to say, oh, we’re not for lockdowns. But what they are for are testing asymptomatics, confining people into isolation from their work, from their family for 7, for 14 days, closing in-person schools, closing businesses. That’s lockdown.”
But the doctor was quick to apologize today. He wrote on his Twitter feed, “I recently did an interview with RT and was unaware they are a registered foreign agent. I regret doing the interview and apologize for allowing myself to be taken advantage of. I especially apologize to the national security community who is working hard to defend us.”
The White House communications team has yet to comment on the controversial doctor’s appearance on Russian TV.
