Dr. Fauci Hasn’t Briefed Donald Trump in Two Months

As coronavirus cases in the United States reach a record 60,000 daily cases and nearly 134,000 deaths nationwide, Dr. Anthony Fauci has revealed that Donald Trump has stopped attending the Coronavirus Task Force briefings. Trump hasn’t been personally briefed by Fauci, who is a longtime non-partisan government employee, since June 2nd.

This should come as a surprise to no one, considering Trump has all but buried his head in the sand regarding COVID19. It’s common knowledge he ignored all early warnings, and now would like to stop testing altogether so that the numbers can’t increase. Even as the fallout from his own Tulsa rally continues, Trump is pushing to reopen schools under the threat of cutting funding.

Asked why Trump hasn’t been a part of the Task Force briefings, Fauci replied, “I have a reputation, as you probably have figured out, of speaking the truth at all times and not sugar-coating things. And that maybe one of the reasons why.”

Dr. Fauci is still careful to not assign too much blame to Trump, preferring to instead to let the statistics speak for themselves. If Americans don’t adhere to the Stay Home and mask-wearing guidelines, he cautions, we can anticipate the current crisis to drag long into the fall and winter.
