Donald Trump’s Brother Died Yesterday While the President Was Out Golfing
Donald Trump has a unique relationship with the members of his extended family. Much of this was laid bare recently when his niece, Mary Trump, wrote a book about the Trump dysfunction.
The President, however, did seem to get along with his brother Robert who has referred to as his best friend. But while Robert died in a hospital bed in New York City on Saturday, Donald Trump was out playing golf.
Former NFL kicker Jay Feely posted a picture from a round of gold with the President. Trump as all smiles. “Had the distinct honor to play golf today with the President and be his partner,” Feely wrote. “Truly enjoyed talking about our families, politics and his earnest desires for our great country. he’s still got game.”

Of course, with the COVID-19 pandemic still affecting hospitals, it may have been impossible for Trump to be as his brother’s bed side. His golf club in Bedminster is just 44 miles away from New York City where his brother was hospitalized.
The President did see fit, though, to deliver a statement about his brother:
“It is with heavy heart I share that my wonderful brother, Robert, peacefully passed away tonight,” Donald Trump said in a statement from his Bedminster golf club. “He was not just my brother, he was my best friend. He will be greatly missed, but we will meet again. His memory will live on in my heart forever. Robert, I love you. Rest in peace.”
