Donald Trump Seethes Over Reports That He Pressured the Justice Department to Overturn the 2020 Election
Former President Donald Trump has angrily responded to a bombshell Friday New York Times report which revealed that the ex-commander in chief pressured the United States Department of Justice to assist him in overturning the results of the 2020 election.
According to notes taken by then-Acting Deputy Attorney General Richard Donoghue, Trump urged Acting Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen to “just say that the election was corrupt and leave the rest to me” in a phone call that may prove to be evidence of a crime.
“The corrupt and highly partisan House Democrats who run the House Oversight Committee yesterday released documents – including court filings dealing with the rigged election of 2020 – that they dishonestly described as attempting to overturn the election. In fact, it is just the opposite. The documents were meant to uphold the integrity and honesty of elections and the sanctity of our vote. The American People want, and demand, that the President of the United States, its chief law enforcement officer in the country, stand with them to fight for Election Integrity and to investigate attempts to undermine our nation. Our country has just suffered an incredibly corrupt Presidential Election, and it is time for Congress and others to investigate how such corruption was allowed to take place rather than investigating those that are exposing this massive fraud on the American People,” Trump wrote in an email to his supporters on Saturday.
There is no evidence that the 2020 election – which Trump lost in a landslide to President Joe Biden – was corrupt, fraudulent, or stolen.
But Trump and his loyalists within the Republican Party are sticking with the Big Lie.
