Trump declared that he’s “not a fan” of Markle, who has been mocked in conservative circles for sharing her story of experiencing racism in the royal family, and boasted about having met Queen Elizabeth. “I know the queen, as you know, I met with the queen, and I think the queen is a tremendous person.”

Trump hinted that he’s still considering running again in 2024, though many insiders have said he won’t do it, in part because of the legal troubles he may face between now and then, and in part because of his own attention span.

“If that happened, I think I’d have an even stronger feeling toward running,” the former president declared.

While Markle shared, in an interview with Oprah, that she had experienced racism in the royal family and her feelings facing that, she also was complimentary of Queen Elizabeth, with whom she says she has a positive relationship. According to Elle, she said “The queen has always been wonderful to me,” describing her as a woman who welcomed her, gave her gifts, and treated her in a friendly and kind manner. The queen, on her part, has said through a spokesperson that she supports Harry and Meghan’s choice to live a more private life, and wishes the best for them.

As for Trump’s response to Markle’s sharing of her own experiences, the royal family seems to take it differently. According to Today, Queen Elizabeth released an official statement saying that the family “is saddened to learn the full extent” of Harry and Meghan’s negative experiences, and that they’ll be addressing the issue privately.
