Donald Trump Says He Fell Out With Epstein 15 Years Ago
In the past, President Donald Trump has been happy to discuss his personal relationship with convicted sex offender, Jeffrey Epstein. Trump even said of the man, “He’s a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side. No doubt about it – Jeffrey enjoys his social life.”
Those glowing comments were made in a 2003 New Yorker article about the billionaire financier. According to the President, this was around the same time that the two of them had a falling out.
Epstein is in the news again thanks to his arrest by federal agents over the weekend. Trump is being questioned not only because of his personal dealings with Epstein, but also because lawmakers are calling for the resignation of Trump’s Labor Secretary Alexander Acosta. Acosta was the US Attorney for the Southern District of Florida and signed off on a lenient plea deal for Acosta in the early 2000’s.
Trump was asked about both men today. Of Epstein, he said, “I knew him like everybody in Palm Beach knew him. I had a falling out with him a long time ago. I don’t think I’ve spoken to him for 15 years. I wasn’t a fan.”
He was far more kind when asked about Acosta. Trump said of his Labor Secretary, “I feel very badly for Secretary Acosta. I can tell you that for two and a half years he has been just an excellent Secretary of Labor, he’s done a fantastic job. Part of it is our economy is so good, our numbers at record lows paid so many good things happening. The fact is he’s been a very good Secretary of Labor.”
Acosta has, thus far, has not been receptive to calls for his resignation.
