Donald Trump Refuses to Commit to Mike Pence as his 2024 Running Mate
Donald Trump and Mike Pence never really had a tight relationship. Pence was kind of forced onto the 45th president in an effort to secure the Evangelical vote. And Pence almost bailed on Trump weeks before the election after the Access Hollywood tape came out.
And the two men are at a big of a sore point right now. Trump is furious at Pence for refusing the overturn the election on his behalf in January. Thanks to that fact, Trump is refusing to commit to Pence as his running mate in 2024.
Just this week, the former vice president seemingly made an appeal to his former boss. Pence said during a New Hampshire Republican event this week, “President Trump and I have spoken many times since we’ve left office, and I don’t know if we’ll ever see eye to eye on that day. But I will always be proud of what we accomplished for the American people over the last four years.”
Following his Saturday night rally in North Carolina, Trump did a spot on Fox News. The former president remarked, “Well I don’t know, it’s really too soon to tell. But certainly we had a very good relationship I was disappointed with Mike on one thing as he understands and some other people understand, but overall, I had a very good relationship with Mike and he’s a very fine person and a fine man.”
When asked if they still had a good relationship, Trump answered, “I think we do. Yeah, I think we I was disappointed on one account but that was a choice that Mike made, and I want people to make their own decisions and he did.”
