US President Donald Trump is once again attacking London Mayor Sadiq Khan. Trump went on the offensive just one day after the mayor’s handling of the terror attacks that rocked the city.

Taking to his favorite medium, Twitter, the POTUS wrote:

“Pathetic excuse by London Mayor Sadiq Khan who had to think fast on his ‘no reason to be alarmed’ statement. MSM is working hard to sell it!”

It is the second time Trump has twisted the mayor’s words to fit his own agenda. One day after the attacks Khan said there was “no cause for alarm” when referring to a visible increase in policy activity inside the city’s limits.

Trump took those words and misconstrued the statement, tweeting:

“At least 7 dead and 48 wounded in terror attack and Mayor of London says there is “no reason to be alarmed!”

Khan’s spokesperson was quick to correct the President’s misinterpretation of the statement:

“Nothing has changed since yesterday. The Mayor is focused on dealing with Saturday’s horrific and cowardly attack and working with the police, the emergency services and the Government to keep London safe.”

After Trump went on the offensive it was Prime Minister Theresa May who came to Khan’s defense, stating that he was doing a “good job” and that he was working with government officials to determine the cause of the attacks.

“I think Sadiq Khan is doing a good job and it’s wrong to say anything else – he’s doing a good job,” May told reporters.

When asked about Donald Trump’s tweets May declined to comment which prompted fierce backlash from elected officials in the region.

When asked if she was worried about criticizing Trump the country’s Prime Minister said she “was not afraid” to speak out when Trump “gets things wrong.”

“I’ve been very clear, I’ve been very happy to say when I think President Trump is wrong — to have taken America out of the climate change agreement, the Paris agreement,” May said. “So I’m not afraid to say when I think President Trump is getting things wrong.”
