President Donald Trump snapped at a reporter who dared call Trump out on his lies about voter fraud in the 2020 election during a press briefing on Thanksgiving.
Reuters’ Jeff Mason had attempted to press the president on whether he would commit to leaving the White House once the Electoral College certifies Joe Biden as the president-elect of the United States.
Instead of answering the question, Trump deflected to his thoroughly debunked claim that Biden only won because millions of people voted illegally.
“Well if they do, they [the Electoral College] made a mistake, because this election was a fraud,” Trump said.
When Mason cut Trump off to demand that he answer the question, the president lost his cool.
“Don’t talk to me that way. You’re just a lightweight,” Trump growled.
“Don’t talk to me that way. I’m the president of the United States. Don’t ever talk to the president that way,” said lame duck Trump. “Alright, I’m going to go with another question.”

Hours after the encounter, Mason tweeted that “Trump says if the Electoral College votes for Biden it would be a mistake, but says he will leave the White House if it does,” adding later that Trump “does not want to say yet whether he would attend the inauguration of Joe Biden.”

Trump responded with his reliably ad hominem complaints about fake news.
“I gave a long news conference today after wishing the military a Happy Thanksgiving, & realized once again that the Fake News Media coordinates so that the real message of such a conference never gets out. Primary point made was that the 2020 Election was RIGGED, and that I WON!” the president thrashed on Twitter.
On Friday, Mason explained to CNN that Trump’s aggression “caught me off guard.. it’s the first time that he has taken questions…since Election Day…so we needed to ask him all of these things.”
